LoremKeys is a simple Mac lorem ipsum generator that lets you create randomized placeholder text with keyboard shortcuts. Generate sentences or paragraphs, copy them to the clipboard, or paste them directly into the active app.

Built for designers, developers, writers, product teams, and anyone who fills forms, mockups, prototypes, wireframes, CMS fields, or test layouts with placeholder text.

Most lorem ipsum generators interrupt the work. You open a tool, choose a length, copy the result, switch back, and paste it where it belongs.

LoremKeys keeps that action on the keyboard. Press a shortcut anywhere on your Mac and generate the placeholder text you need while staying in the app you were already using.

Use copy-only mode when you want the generated lorem ipsum placed on your clipboard. Use copy + paste when you want LoremKeys to insert the text into the frontmost app for you.

Copy + paste requires macOS Accessibility permission so LoremKeys can send Command-V to the active app. The app uses that permission only for paste behavior.

Randomized lorem ipsum every time.

Repeated placeholder text makes layouts feel fake fast. LoremKeys randomizes sentence length, word rhythm, and paragraph shape so each generated block feels different.

That makes it easier to test real-world layout behavior: short lines, long lines, uneven paragraphs, and the kind of variation that catches design problems before launch.

Match the casing to the design.

Placeholder text is not always body copy. Sometimes it needs to look like a label, button, headline, alert, form field, or card title.

LoremKeys includes casing controls so generated text can match the state you are testing: cap case, title case, lowercase, or all caps.

Simple settings that stay out of the way.

Turn shortcut rows on or off, choose how much text each shortcut creates, and keep only the actions you actually use.

Keyboard shortcuts

LoremKeys lets you turn shortcut rows on or off and customize the amount of lorem ipsum each shortcut creates. If a shortcut does not work, check that the row is turned on and that another Mac app is not already using the same key combination.

Copy and paste behavior

Copy mode places generated lorem ipsum on your clipboard.

Copy + paste mode places generated text on your clipboard and sends Command-V to the active app.

Accessibility permission

macOS requires Accessibility permission before LoremKeys can paste into another app. LoremKeys uses this permission only to send Command-V when Copy + paste mode is enabled.

To enable it, open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, then Accessibility, and allow LoremKeys.

Privacy

LoremKeys does not collect personal data, does not require an account, and does not send generated text to a server.

Information submitted through the support form is used only to respond to support requests. Do not send passwords, payment card numbers, or other sensitive information through the form.
